Moving Forward

Its the first of the month and i was unable to meet my goal of 400 members on the site. I kinda suspected that when I still needed 24 members and only had 3 days to do so. However I am not defeated and am positive that i can meet my goal of 700 this month if I work hard. (400 from last month + 300 from this month).

So I signed up for a new account on Livemocha and am working steadily to making new friends. I'm talking with a bunch of people at once and it can get pretty confusing at times. What's good is that i am talking to a lot of people. That I can make a lot of friends and hopefully learn something along the way. Hopefully through the Livemocha and the power of the internet I can meet my goal of 700 people this month.

Wile were on the topic of Livemocha, I've noticed that used the site for everything but its initial purpose; to teach a language. I went to the site originally wishing to learn chinese. I still do want to learn chinese, but I for some reason lack the ability to focus. To buckle down and take each lesson seriously. There is nothing held over my head that tells me I have to do this. I can quit at anytime but instead I found a way to do something constructive with my account. I decided to spread the word of the site to the friends I make on the site.

It's been a great experience thus far and I have made a lot of friends that way that I wouldn't have made otherwise. The experience has also taught me how to be a good samaritan. That if you want something you need to give a little. Without expecting anything in return. I'm use to doing this but this experience has reinforced that.

I love helping people. The appreciation they show is what makes it all worth it. The connection that is establish additionally makes the experience that much better. My Skype list only continues to grow along with my life since going to china, since becoming an intern at Education Connection, since sophomore year, and since opening up to the world and the people I know.

I have high hopes for the days to come and can't wait for the ride to come.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman
