As a student its hard to choose the right career. We want a job that pays well and that we can be proud of. One that doesn't label us as a pencil pusher but a valuable member to our community. Someone that provides a service we can all be admired for. We want to be role model's before we even have a role to take. We wish to enjoy the fruit of our labor before even planting the seeds. This idea of jumping from 0-100 is common and natural. It allows to dream big and achieve the impossible. If this dream really matters, we will find the right path to bring it to life. If it was just false ambition, it will crumble in our hands.

From my experience, jumping from 0-100 can be a bad thing. In most cases, the person wishes to be something they cannot be. They want be president, but where born in a foreign country. They want to be want to go to Yale, but lack the grades and the requirements to get into one of the best schools in the country. So why set you standard so high? Why pursue goals that seem so impossible? Because it pushes the human race further. If we accepted things the way they were we would never make any advancements. We need the ability to dream, to jump from 0-100, in order to make the advancements, to taste the fruit we desire so badly.

This however comes with experience and time. We need the ability to dream, but we also need the ability to pursue our dreams. We need the work ethic, the passion, the drive that tells us that this is our chance to make a name for ourselves. To become the role model in our community. And to one day be admired and respected by those around us. I think we all have this ability; to achieve something great and wonderful. We just have to remember to not get lost in the 0-100 jump.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman
