Its ironic in a society that promotes such good morals and beliefs that the people are more interested in the dark side of the situation than they are of the good side of the situation. We all want to be bad at some point in our lives and the reasons can be very simple. Being bad in a situation like this doesn't necessarily mean becoming the next cold heart-ed killer but someone that has no regard for society. Someone who has nothing that holds him back and is free to do what he wants. Nothing stands in his way and whatever does is quickly eliminated. It isn't really the bad side of the situation we are attracted to but more the power that this side gives us.
When your bad, nothing stands in your way. You have the power to confront your challenges with a clear incentive. Your purpose is your only goal. You're not here to make friends and form memories but complete your mission as quickly and as efficiently as possible. Being bad also shares a connection with being strong. Its common to imagine the badass inside all of us as the person who exaggerates all the features we wish we had. This persona has physical strength, mental strength, and isn't someone that's easy to walk all over. They have all the characteristics we had and wish we could obtain in this situation where others measure us up for something we're not.
The bad side isn't what we think of when it comes to the assassins and gangsters that Hollywood depicts. The bad side we love so much is the confident side we all wish we had more often. The ability to take charge and do the things that need to be done with no fears is what we all wish we could be able to do on a daily basis. But I think that confidence is found in other styles and is what makes people pursue these kinds of personas. We all want to be Mr. Confident but it's up to us to take the necessary steps to meet that goal.
Sincerely, Hector Guzman
