Believe it or not I, Hector Guzman, am a nerd (I know what a shocker, right?) I've always been a nerd and it kinda sucks in certain ways but in many ways it rocks to be a nerd. This blog hopefully will give a better look into how it rocks to be a nerd and how it kinda sucks to be a nerd at times.
Being a nerd isn't easy. In many ways I feel nerds have a lot of pressure than those who aren't nerds (or at least don't think they're nerds) realize they have. Nerds for one things are really self-conscious and really high maintenance. We always need to be in control and we always need to be at the top. We worry so much about the future that in many ways we lack the ability to live in the present. Additionally, we get lost in our heads with things that only affect us and really nothing else in our lives. Things that are trivial and really just a phase I guess we need to live through. But not all things about being a nerd suck. There are also . . .
Being a nerd can also come in handy when you look at all the challenges we have left to face in our lives. For the most parts nerds are really good at school and always try their best at whatever they do. Nerds also know how to keep a conversation going. I'm tired of talking to people who only want to talk about one thing which usually involves making fun of me. And for the most part we know that nerds typically have a good future ahead of them. Most are really diligent and earnest to what they believe in. The true nerds don't even care about money when it comes to pursuing the career of their choice. But does this only pertain to nerds to does it really focus on the type of person you are? We will all have to one make the choice . . .
For the most part we all fall under one of these categories even though there are thousands of other categories out there. By definition nerds are usually those who are smart and in many ways socially inept. They lack confidence when it comes to interacting with non-nerds. Those who aren't nerds are typically portray as the cool kid. They're layed back and you will rarely ever seem them break a sweat in the face of adversity. Many are believed to be ignorant of the truth and this battle, this blog, this story could go on for ages. My question to you is do you think you're a nerd and if so, why does it suck/rock to be a nerd?
Sincerely, Hector Guzman
