Biting Off More Than You Can Chew

The time frame that I think my mind and the mind set of others at my age is at is one that believes we can conquer mountains. We are indestructible and can take whatever challenge that comes our ways. We have no fears nor doubts that stand in our way. We are indifferent to any sort of adversity and represent the embodiment of the perfect student, son, and employee.

Our hopes and dreams no longer seem as far-fetched. We have confidence in our potential and believe that fulfilling our dreams is only a matter of time. Time that will come our way as we get older and life continues to go on. The optimism in our way of life is what makes the impossible seem possible. It is what allows us to be creative. To take a risk and do something that might not work out. Finding a way and proving that we can take the challenges they throw at us is what proves that we can handle it and we're ready for the world ahead.

Sometimes however we bite off more than we can chew. We try to challenge a force in our life that has no equal. We come face to face with reality and the optimism we once had is now replaced with doubts. We doubt our abilities and feel that our potential is limited. Our Achilles Heel has been exposed and the armor that once protected us has been stripped away. We have failed; ashamed to admit that optimistic spirit has been crushed. However there is still a chance to find a solution that proves we were not defeated. We must prove that we are stronger than they thought. That we still stand ready to take the next punch and prove that we will succeed.

Success isn't always what we expect it to be. If you fail, redefine your definition of success. Failing doesn't mean having gained nothing and lost everything. Failing teaches you what to do better the next time around. We don't always have a second chance, but we will have another chance to take on a new challenge in our lives. Each endeavor builds on the past and shows us that we can make it. That our dreams can become realities. And that representing the embodiment of the perfect student, son, and employee shouldn't be our only goal in life.

No matter what road we chose on our journey through life, we all have the came chance of being successful. We don't all have to be the best student, child, or employee to be successful. We can leave our mark in ways never thought before. It's all about the road to success. The people we met, the experience we gained, and the milestones we accomplished all make life worth living. Life isn't just a static world with one solution; it is a dynamic world that has different roads to happiness.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman
