Progress Report for April

Official Start Time: 4:45 a.m.
Date: 4/30/09
Official End Time: 5:00 a.m.

So its that time of the month again and I'm not really sure how to start it off. I mean I could reflect about the latest blogs and randomness that goes into the crazy/moral stories I try to tell but really it all comes down to what will I do next.

And the answer is . . . . inconclusive

For now, I'm not sure what lays ahead in my digital career. I know I have a bunch of test to prepare for in my non-digital world and that will probably eat away at the time we have together. I realized that I am a huge procrastinator. I get distracted easily and forget that this blog needs updating. Additionally, in desperate time, desperate measures are taken. I've realized that doing a blog a day doesn't guarantee better quality blogs, instead it includes random flip flop that is shocking to read later. I will admit its worked once, but i don't know about twice.

In the end, I've come to the conclusion that only with practice can I make perfect. Things I want to improve on is bringing more real life quality to the blog: content, pictures, events, etc. Additionally, I want the blog to represent a more professional side of my expertise. I mean its great to joke around and laugh at stupid things that go on in my life, but sometimes it nice to see the more professional blogs and how they actually inform and serve, rather than entertain.

I guess for now, I'll keep you posted.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman

The Things I Love

Official Start Time: 3:30 a.m.
Date: 4/29/09
Official End Time: 4:00 a.m.

These are things that make life worth living. These are the things that remind me to get up every morning and continue pushing against the rain and the wind.

1. Education (btw, they are listed in no particular order)
I've always been a big nerd at heart and education is one of those things that forces me to get up everyday. In my experience, I've realized that with a proper education, man is able to accomplish the impossible; he is able to travel to China, make money, and dream. Education for me represents opportunity. Reading, writing, and challenging yourself mentally are things that I plan to do for years to come and possibly till the day I die. Not because I am forced, but because I love education and the idea of teaching or learning something new everyday.

2. Books
I've always been an avid reader and from an early age, my love for books grew and establish the vocabulary that I use so well today. For me, reading was a great way to see the time fly by. I grew up under a controlling mother who always reminded us that education came first. She always told us to read and prepare for the future. That if we wanted to live a good life in the future, we needed to work hard now and grasp all the information we could.

I actually remember one day during the summer when my mom actually gave us a test. If that's not bizarre enough for you, then I don't know what is. In retrospect, reading was justing something I took upon myself to exceed in. It started with one book, then two books, then a whole series of books, and so forth. Something I regret is not reading more books for information, but in my opinion I believe education and the knowledge we are equipped with the day we enter grade school has little correlation to our future success.

3. The Future
The future, and the idea that there is always more to come, is another thing that reminds how sweet life can be. For me, the future represents endless possibilities: it can never be predicted or controlled. Not knowing what's about to happen next is always a bumper for me, but in many ways a good thing. There is no way I could have imagined being where I am today if I looked by 5 years ago. Right now I'm at the prime of my life; every decision I make from this point forward will determine where I will be in the future to come and what I can expect in the next couple of years. Whatever it is, I just hope for the best.

4. Family and Friends
This topic kinda falls in sync with the other one so I'm not gonna get to touchy about it. Family and friends are the esscense point to any life. Human interaction alone is probably the most exciting part of a person day and makes the life of that person even more special, knowing that their are people out there who care and worry about you the same way you worry about them.

Touching the lives of others is probably the biggest reward any can receive on this Earth. Knowing that you're actions have moved, motivated, encouraged, facilitated, and even pushed the dreams and ambitions of another person is more gratifying than any trophy or cash price can suffice. I'm altruistic guy, what can I say.

5. Jassica
And last but definitely not least is Jassica; she makes me life worth living. I first met Jassica in early november of 2008 and since then we've been inseparable. She's pretty crazy. She forces me to do things I wouldn't otherwise do and cares about me in the most peculiar of ways. In every essence of the word, she completes me.

We share so much in common. We both love school, books, and wonder about the future. We both dream of the impossible and are crazy in our own ways. We make each other smile. We make each other laugh. And we both know, that as long as there is the other one in this world, that there is still a reason to live. I love you Jassica.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman

The Things I Hate

Official Start Time: 1:00 a.m.
Date: 4/28/09
Official End TIme: 1:30 a.m.

So, I guess it would only be practical to explain why I hate these things.

Like most hated items, there origin dates back to our childhood. For me, ceramics were a big thing in my childhood. My mom had one to many of them. Our entire living room was covered in them and it drove me mad. Reason being, they inhibited my childhood experience. These little porcelain dolls and dollar store goodies kept me from running free in my house and always served as a reminder of my mothers authority.

If anything every happened to them, I knew it would be my head. The biggest things that bothered me about them was that they served no purpose; they just stood there. Stood in the way of my cries for freedom and everything else that kids should be aloud to do.

Dirty clothes are no better in this pile of hate. For me dirty clothes have always disgusted me; they represent misery and poverty. I'm a pretty optimistic person, but dirty clothes just way me down. They prove that no matter how high you rise, you will always have a dirty trail following you behind.

Furthermore, dirty clothes have always represented an obstacle for me. I always felt bad wearing dirty clothes and worried others would make fun of me because of it. In retrospect, your clothes should define who you are nor should they be a factor that decides what kind of person you are. I guess it's just one of those things.

Finally, telenovelas (or soperas) are is the last things I can't stand. I understand that they're based on a novel written by some brilliant author but really the story gets old. Each televnovela has the same hero, damsel in distress, bad guy/girl, and setting that makes no sense. How are viewers post to connect with millionaire damsels in distress who can't get over a man who could care less if they were dead or alive. Probably the must frustrating thing is how they drag out the story. They take something as simple as a person being hit by a car that would typically take 2 episodes to talk about and turn into 6. Why? I don't know.

The list believe or not ends here. I'm really not that picky of a guy. I've learned to live through tough times and tough experiences. I'm pretty solid, like a rock. Just those things, oh, how they wither my away at my soul.

Sincerely, Hector Guzman
